Description

RoofandRailing by RailSafe installs a variety of Skylight Railing products, all which meet or exceed OSHA Standards for preventing falls through skylights. The NextGen 3000™ Skylight Railing weighs 58 pounds. railing panels and bases. Kee base fittings with posts and continuous rail make up Kee Guard® Skylight Railing. PVC bases and posts with continuous rail make up Kee Dome® Skylight Railing. These systems can be installed permanently or temporarily and are non-penetrating, meaning they won’t harm the roof membrane. Note that membrane pads and base pads are also offered.

Skylights, typically made of molded plastic or fiberglass panels, can withstand substantial impact when first made. However, over time, the sun’s damaging ultraviolet rays can change the chemical makeup of the plastic, making it brittle and causing skylight tragedies. Accidents can occur when a person sits on the skylight, slips and falls into it, or walks on it. Corrugated or standing seam skylights, which are flat, translucent panels that look like roof patches, pose a danger as they can be difficult to navigate, especially when snow covers the roof. These flat skylights are particularly dangerous when the roof is snow-covered, as they are invisible.
